The Music Box. The ring is a ballroom: a floor of pastel tiles round a giant wind-up music box. It plays a toy-piano tune with a clear beat. Tiles fill red and land on the beat. The box can be hit only while its song plays, and every bar of the song makes you sleepier.

Item level 55: the set a key 15 run drops, in epic

That is the gear this fight was tuned for. More gear makes it easier, and good play can win below it. How item level works here.

What it does

Step On Beat

Half the floor, diagonal lines of one colour, or the tiles round you fill red over two beats and land together.

Step onto any unlit neighbour. The whole floor pulses on every beat: use it.

March Stripes

Every other row of tiles fills red over a whole bar. The rows run along the way you face.

Step sideways into the next row.

Ripple Waltz

Square bands round the box fill red, rippling outward from the lid.

Step in or out one band.

Solo Spotlight

The dancer turns to you and a pink spot falls on you. The tiles round you fill red over a bar.

Walk out of the block, forward or sideways.

Sleepy Lullaby

A pip appears over your health bar every bar of the song. At the last pip you fall asleep and the tiles land on you. A third sleep with no silence between ends the fight.

Break the crank before the last pip, and never sleep three times without a silence between. Only silence clears pips.

The crank

A crank sticks out of the box’s side. Any blow aimed at it breaks it and stops the song. The lid slams shut with a red ring round the box.

Walk out of the ring, then wind the crank back up by standing on the key mark.

Key Change

Twice in the fight the song changes key: one bar with no tiles and the box open.

A free bar. The next song is faster.

Backbeat

In the last stretch the quick tiles land on the other beats.

Read the red, not the habit.

The Grand Finale

If the fight runs long, the music turns minor. Every tile kills.

Finish it before that.

How to beat it

  1. Listen and look: Every tile fills red and lands on a beat you can hear and see. With sound off the floor still pulses and a strip of dots counts the bar.
  2. Watch the pips: Break the crank when your pips are near the end, not at the start: every second of song is damage time.
  3. The crank is quick: It takes only a few seconds of your damage. Aim at it with a single-target blow; area damage will not break it.
  4. Wind it back: The key mark is inside the slam’s ring. Walk out of the ring, then back in.
  5. Casters: The rests between steps fit your casts. Cast in them.
  6. Flawless: No tile or slam lands on you. Falling asleep counts, because the tiles hit you.

Every class can win: each attack has a red warning on the floor and can be walked out of. About the Hug Club.
