Jūjū Takoyaki
The Hot Griddle. A golden octopus ball, 3.6 metres across, sitting in the middle of the tub with a bamboo skewer in its side and bonito flakes dancing on top. The tub floor is a black iron griddle. It teaches you to dance with the beat.

What it does
It flicks hot oil at you. A red circle shows where it lands.
Walk out of the red.
It spins sauce round itself in a ring.
Melee: step out. Ranged: stay out of the ring.
It scores five rows across the iron with its skewer, then flips itself up out of reach. The rows heat in a sweep from the far rim toward you, popping on the beat.
The sweep is faster than you walk, and the rim behind you is a dead end. Listen for the beat and watch the rows.
After a sweep it plops down steaming in the middle.
It is a free window: hit it.
How to beat it
- Do not run from the rows: You will not outrun the sweep. Learn its beat.
- Keep clear of the oil: Flicks and spins are slow. Walk out of the red and come back in.
- Use the steam: When it plops down it is yours to hit.
- Flawless: No flick, spin or row pops on you.
